Dues Notice
For years The Cleveland Surgical Society has followed the traditional “academic year” of July to June for its programming and assessment of dues. The usual final meeting of the year is in May culminating with the Resident Essay Contest. Payment of dues in the Fall of the preceding year often led to confusion to the extent of dues coverage the following year especially when some members paid dues in the Spring prior to the final meeting. Beginning January 2020, annual dues will be assessed for the calendar year January 1 through December 31.
A member, if no longer practicing in the area and is not eligible for Life Member status, may choose to be a Friend of the Society. No dues are assessed and the member will remain on the Society email list.
Life members are not assessed annual dues, but are responsible for a dinner fee if attending a meeting.
Corporate Affiliates, Program Coordinators, Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows are not eligible for active (voting) membership and are not assessed annual dues. However, their information for meeting notices and newsletter is maintained in the Society database.
Dues notices for the upcoming year will be emailed beginning December 1. Dues can be paid through the Society website by signing into the member portal. The Society prefers that payment is made electronically through the website rather than by check. The Society uses Paypal for this purpose. Members are registered in the website system and maintain their "active" status by payment of annual dues.
Cleveland Surgical Society is a 501(c)(6) organization. Dues payments are not tax deductible as a donation according to the IRS. However, dues may be deductible as a business expense. Please consult your tax advisor. If you have any questions about your membership status, please contact the Secretary/Treasurer at admin@clevelandsurgical.org
