Management of Gastrointestinal Failure: From Surgical Innovation to Gut Transplantation

Dr. Abu-Elmagd is a distinguished surgeon who specializes in intestinal transplantation. He is currently in practice at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Just few of his many significant accomplishments include contribution to the field of portal hypertensive surgery, and has a leading role in the development of intestinal and multivisceral transplantation in humans with standardization of surgical techniques, immunosuppressive strategies and postoperative management.

In addition, he has introduced novel surgical techniques for the management of patients with gut failure due to complex abdominal pathology and complicated gastric bypass surgery.

He is a surgical educator, researcher, author, and has been an invited lecturer at over 150 events.
