Dr. Andrew Strong, Cleveland Clinic, won the top prize for presenting "Per-Oral Pyloromyotomy as an Augmentative Therapy after Prior Gastric Electrical Stimulation for Gastroparesis"

Medical Student Mary Teresczuk is our 2nd place winner, presenting "Hospital System Rollout and Initial Experience with Stainless Steel Seeds for Breast and Lymph Node Localization"

Dr. Hemasat Alkhatib presented "Hernia Repair in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Operative Techniques Offered and Outcomes", and received the third place prize.

Each year the Cleveland Surgical Society sponsors this spectacular case presentation competition. We traditionally have four resident led presentations – 15 minutes each. A panel of master surgeons is selected by the society to be challenged by your resident’s case during this competition.

The 71st Cleveland Surgical Society Resident Essay Contest will be held on May 7, 2024. Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows from the Northeastern Ohio training programs are eligible to submit their abstracts for consideration. April 1, 2024 is the deadline for abstract submission for the 71st Resident Essay Contest.
